The Byzantine Museum is located in the area of SE Acropolis (Its Kale) of the castle of Ioannina. This two-storey building, on the ground floor of which the central collection of the Museum, which houses finds housed (sculptures, coins, pottery, pictures, sanctuary doors, gospels) from the 4th to the 19th century. This permanent exhibition unfolds in seven rooms that correspond to three exhibition sections (Early Christian, Byzantine, Post-Byzantine) with findings coming from across the continent and is limited to the history and art of the Epirus region during those periods. Branch of the museum is the exhibition of silversmiths, traditional art with distinct boom in Epirus, which hosted the so-called '' treasure ''. Exposed ecclesiastical and secular works from the private collections of Archbishop Spyridon and Giannioti silversmith Constantine Ioannides, has recently been enriched by a series of jewelery and objects donated by Mrs. T. Vella-Dogoriti.
